CMI Founder Jim Murray Retires After 30 Years

Director Updates
After more than 30 years, CMI’s founder and Director Emeritus, Jim Murray, stepped away from his day-to-day duties at the end of 2019.

Jim led CMI with integrity, perseverance, and a passion to be a catalyst for urban evangelism and church planting in Latin America.

His leadership helped multiply urban churches in many capital cities throughout Latin America. With Jim at the helm, CMI equipped and united urban churches to reach their cities with the gospel.

Many of the outcomes we celebrate today came as a result of the Lord’s work through Jim and Ginny’s faithfulness. Their sacrifice, prayer, vision, and diligence have made tremendous impact.
In 2018, the Murray family celebrated Jim’s 75th birthday in Ecuador with some of their closest friends in Quito. Many shared words of gratitude and appreciation in an emotional and intimate evening. Here is one example:

“Jim, you have no idea how great an impact you have had in our country. Thousands of people have been touched by the gospel because of your faithfulness to the Lord. May God repay you because we can never repay you.”

Join us in applauding Jim and Ginny Murray’s service to our Lord. They will continue serving as ambassadors for the vital work CMI does. Jim adds, “We could not have done this without amazing supporters. But the mission we’ve advanced together is far from finished! That’s why your ongoing prayer and support for CMI is vital.”
